This was our most physically and mentally challenging day. We started the day at 7900 foot elevation where it was 45 degrees. After 16 dry miles we were at 1700 feet where it was 95 degrees. There was no shade to be found. Janel has a rough time with such heat. Our umbrellas could only provide some shade. We had to keep hiking because we needed to get to the next water source. We took an mid afternoon break, but that did not give much relief. The desert is no joke! It’s a desert out there! By the end of the day Janel was physically and mentally exhausted. Alan had had enough as well. We night hiked 4 miles to get to a trail angels house. We arrived at Ziggy and the Bears, got registered and cowboy camped.
