In the morning we packed up our gear and went to the local coffee shop for breakfast with Doc.  After a long breakfast, we got onto the trail at 10:30.  It was hot start to the day and we had a 1600′ climb to get over a ridge.  On the other side of the ridge, it was windy and we could see some dark clouds looming in the distance.  By the time we got to the valley, it was raining and there was a little lightning and thunder around.  We decided it would be best just to set up camp there and have an early night.  For the record, it has now rained on us three times and snowed once.  It just shows you that you never know what to expect, even in the desert.
