Today was a fast day. I was well rested after Tahoe and the terrain today was relatively flat. It was also cool and shady for most of the day. In the morning, I heard a sound that I hadn’t heard or thought of for a long time – a rattle. It was the first rattlesnake I had seen for about 500 miles. Then, a couple of hours later, as I am showing the pictures of the snake to Right On and Cokeman, we here another rattle from the bushes. Two rattlesnakes in one day. We didn’t even see that in the desert. By the end of the day, I had entered the Granite Chief Wilderness and separated from the Tahoe Rim Trail.
