We were on trail early today in order to finish the 2600′ climb that we had started yesterday. It was a cool morning and really felt like a fall day. It was a small reminder that we are getting towards the end of this crazy journey. As we were climbing, we got some amazing views of Mt. Jefferson from the Jefferson Park area. In this case, park means a large, flat, meadowy area in the mountains, not a “park” like you would normally think of. We climbed over a pass and were greeted with snow and our first views of Mt. Hood in the distance. It was like being back in the Sierras if only for a short time. We passed Olallie Lake, a small resort with a little camp store. We couldn’t resist the temptation to stop in and grab a couple of beers and snacks. We walked on a few miles and camped at Jude Lake, where I spent the rest of the night singing “Hey Jude” to Janel. She was very impressed.
