After a few miles of hiking, we had a somewhat unusual log crossing over the Muddy Fork River. We then started a pretty steep climb up to Waucoma Ridge. There were supposed to be some pretty spectacular views of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, and even Mt. Rainier. We were in the clouds most of the afternoon, though, so we will just have to believe the guidebook. In the afternoon, we made it to the Indian Springs campground where the Eagle Creek Alternate route begins. This is the most popular alternate on the PCT because it goes through the very scenic Eagle Creek gorge passes under Tunnel Falls. Tunnel Falls is a huge waterfall where the trail actually passes behind the falls. It was definitely a highlight of the trip!
