I always pictured Washington as cloudy and rainy, but I have been told that that only happens from October to May. Well, today was just like I had pictured it. We had a cold rain on and off until noon. During the rain, we were walking through a dark, mossy forest. It just felt right that it was raining. After a 3200′ climb, we got a really nice view of the Columbia River. We ended up hiking later than we had originally intended because we were hiking up a ridge and couldn’t find a decent flat spot. Thankfully, after climbing 1800′ we crossed an old abandoned forest road and setup camp in the dark. We were exhausted.
The Optimist.
