I am beginning to wonder about the rain in Washington. Will it stop? Is the sun still up there? It was a windy and rainy night. At least we are warm and comfortable in our tent. We pack carefully wanting to keep things dry as we know we will be hiking in the rain. Thank goodness for rain gear! On the bright side, we are stopping in Trout Lake to resupply today! We hiked some miles to the road and then John ( thanks John!) gave us a ride to the cafe. As he drove, the sun came out and we could finally see all the beautiful hills around us. I had the Beatles song ” here comes the sun” in my head for the rest of the day..We had a great breakfast and a much needed cup of coffee! We managed to get a lot done in a short amount of time: showers, laundry, resupply, breakfast, lunch and of course dinner. We got a ride back to the trail and hiked a bit more. The sun was shining and it was warm. It makes you appreciate the sun when you have not seen it for a few days.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful photos and short but informative comments and thoughts. I’ve enjoyed following your posts since Mexico. I hoped to meet you as you passed through the northern Sierra’s near a Quincy, but missed sending you an email with contact info because of natural delays in posts relative to your actual location – you already passed through my area when I thought you were still south of me in Sierra City. Whatever the case, best of luck to you both as you finish the last few hundred miles and leave the trail behind for other pursuits. This transition seems to be a tough hurdle for many who have recently completed the PCT. I hope the weather is cooperative as you approach the finish line..I’m anxious to hear your gear reviews and any best practices around food preparation as I plan to tackle the JMT next year.

    1. Keep positive thoughts for the weather! We are planning gear reviews when we wrap it all up. And I am sure we will talk about food and food prep, it’s a favorite topic of ours! The JMT will be awesome for you, that was a special place! Happy planning!
