We met a really nice guy at the hostel and he offered to drive Sherlock and us back to the trailhead this morning. He was visiting the hot springs in the area was very interested in the CT and the CDT. We got to hiking at 8:50 as we transitioned from dirt road to cool forest. We had a pretty peaceful 3000′ climb to get back up to the continental divide until the we hit the last 400′ over 0.4 miles. Up along the divide, we were walking through alpine tundra above the treeline. There were great views all around. We set up camp by the trailhead for the next section when Sherlock came along and set up next to us. We watched a thunderstorm brewing behind Mt Ouray before it got cold and a little too close to hiker midnight and went to bed.
