We woke up cold and wet as was to be expected. We packed up wet, but we were headed to our last town stop of Silverton, so we knew we would be able to dry out. Pretty soon after, we hit 400 miles. It was a beautiful day with abundant sunshine, a nice change from the previous two days. After a big descent, we crossed the tracks for the Durango-Silverton railroad. We even got to watch the train go by. After that, we did a long climb out of the valley and even got to sweat a little bit. We got to the Molas Campground by 1pm and picked up a package we had sent there, and then hitched into Silverton. Our ride dropped us off at the gas station, and we had a couple of roller dogs so we wouldn’t hit the grocery store hungry. After the grocery, we checked into a hotel and stuffed ourselves with Mexican food.
